Graduate Student Funding and Support

Supplemental Requirements for Graduate Aid

In addition to standard application materials, you may be required to provide our office with additional information to complete your application and finalize your award.

Graduate Student Verification

The federal government requires that each institution's financial aid office verify the information, from a selection of students receiving need-based federal aid, reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). While the majority of federal funding for graduate students is not need-based, which is exempt from the federal verification process, our office may still be required to complete this secondary review. If your FAFSA is selected for verification and our office is required to complete this process, our staff will notify you via email of any additional requirements.

Graduate Student FAFSA Requirements

Based on your previous federal student aid history, our office may require additional documentation to confirm you are eligible for federal graduate loans or grants. Any additional requirements will be located on your FAFSA’s Student Aid Report (SAR) as well as posted on your Financial Aid Requirements page in self-service Banner. If you have any requirements listed, please do not hesitate to contact our office directly at GS_Financial_Aid@Brown.edu.
